Skype and LeadMaster Guide

Using Skype with LeadMaster

There are several options for integrating LeadMaster with the telephone system. You have the choice of using programs like Skype to full function call center systems with predictive dialing

In this document you’ll see how you can configure your browser to use Skype to click on phone numbers to dial from within LeadMaster. For this example we’ll use the Firefox browser.

First you’ll need to make the browser aware of Skype. This is done through an ‘add on’ application. To find add-ons you can either use a search engine or use Firefox to find them. In Firefox click on Tools > Add-ons. This will bring up the ‘Add-ons’ window. In the upper left-hand corner you’ll see a search box. Type in Skype and you’ll see a variety Add-ons that will allow you to click on the phone number to dial it (Telify, FoxFon, Browser Highlighter).

For this example we have chosen the Telify Add-on. You may need to download it if you don’t already have it installed. You can either click on the green button ‘Add to Firefox’ or you may want to go to their site to read more about it.

Here’s a download site:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10654

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the add-on, Firefox requires a restart. Click on the restart button.

Now you are ready to configure it.

Click on the Tools menu in Firefox and click on ‘Add-ons’ menu item.

From the ‘Add-ons’ page you can disable, uninstall or configure through the Options button.

Click the Options button to bring up the ‘General Settings’ page. This is where you choose your protocol. Telify works with several different protocols. You’ll want to choose Skype.

(You may want to select Strong under Text Highlighting for easier viewing.)
Close the Add-ons windows.

Before you dial it is recommended that you disable any other click dialers for this WorkGroup.

Go to Manage Workgroups under Administration and select your workgroup. Next, on the lower right corner of the section, disable Phone Number Hyperlink.

Next, from your Logon Management under Administration, click Privileges for the users who are going be using Skype click-to-dial. Click the checkbox next to Allow “Click to Dial” for Phone Numbers under the section Viewing / Editing Records.

Now go to a record. The contact’s phone number should be highlighted. Be sure to select the number next to the USA flag, if that is where you are calling from. Skype will launch when a number is selected.

You can also call directly from the Accounts or Contacts page. Some of these numbers may or may not be highlighted. With your mouse, select any phone number and right-click. You should see an option called Phone Number Selection. Click on the appropriate number in the extended window and Skype will be launched.

Depending upon your configuration you may or may not need to associate your phone numbers with an application. Depending upon whether you’re on a Mac or a PC you’ll see a dialog box like one of these.

If Skype appears then click Skype or Skype.app and OK. If you don’t see Skype then click the Choose button and Choose Skype. Be sure to click the checkbox ‘Remember my choice for Skype links’. Otherwise you’ll have to check it every time you dial.
When you click on the phone number, a Skype window similar to the following will be displayed.

This is what it looks like on a PC. When you click OK it will dial the number. If you click the checkbox ‘Do not ask me again’ it will dial after your right click without showing this dialog box.

This is what it looks like on a Mac. To dial the phone number click the green call button.
